Ava Energy Center

The Ava Energy Center is a proposed 200 megawatt / 800 megawatt-hour energy storage project that will interconnect to an existing transmission line and the Louisa substation located off of Harris Creek road. At peak output, this project will provide the electricity necessary to power nearly all of the Louisa County’s homes and businesses (except data centers) for a 4-hour period.

The project will be sited on approximately 55 acres of land well off of Harris Creek road and adjacent to the existing Colonial Pipeline pump station. It will not be seen nor heard from the road.

Project at a Glance

  • Electrical Grid Impact: Enhance the reliability and resiliency of the local electrical grid
  • Economic Impact: Contribute to the county’s economic development. The project will help slow the electricity bill increases of County residents while further diversifying the County’s tax base.
  • Environmental Impact: The project has no air pollutions emissions and limited noise pollution
  • Traffic impact: After construction, there will be no long term impact on traffic – Less than 1 car per day during operations

Safety

Safety is East Point’s top priority – this project will adhere to all relevant codes and standards for battery energy storage systems consistent with industry standards.  We will coordinate closely with the relevant Fire Departments including, but not limited to, the Town of Louisa fire station.
